Saad Lamjarred's lawyer steps down as his client remains behind bars Febraury 06, 2017
Moroccan singer Saad Lamjarred, who has been locked up in a French prison since 26 October, 2016, is facing new drama with his legal case against the woman accusing him of "aggravated rape."
Ibrahim al Rashidi, one of Saad's lawyers, has stepped down from his defense team, according to Arab media.

Rumor has it that Al Rashidi thinks Saad's case is a hopeless one, while the former insisted that he can no longer represent the singer because of work timing conflicts.

Al Rashidi said that stepping down was mutually agreed with Saad because he is "finding it difficult to travel back and forth between France and Morocco at such an extensive level," seeing as he has ongoing lawsuits and clients to represent in Morocco.

Al Rashidi further told the media that anyone who suggests that he has stepped down because of the nature of Saad's case is "ignorant."

Last month, it was rumored that Saad was set to appear in court on 3 February, 2017, to find out whether he will be temporarily released on bail or staying in Paris's Fleury-Merogis prison.

However, no statement was released to confirm or deny whether the court hearing took place or not.
