Rani Zakhem was born in Beirut, lebanon. During a war torn beirut, his family moved to Nairobi, Kenya where Rani was raised throughout his childhood.
While living in Nairobi, Rani was influenced by the beautiful colors of his surroundings and always had a fascination for aesthetics. He spent hours reveling in the fashion magazines his father used to buy his mother from abroad. It was a world of beauty and glamour that intrigued him, and made him want to become part of that world someday.
In 1992, after the civil war ended in Lebanon, Rani moved back to Beirut with his family. He continued his education at the International College, he American School of Beirut. He graduated in 2001 with a Baccalaureate in economics. Upon graduation, Rani pursued another one of his passions, Interior Design, at the Lebanese American University, in which he graduated with a BS in 2005.
After obtaining his BS in interior sedign, Rani decided to go after what he loves most, clothes!
He was accepted at the prestigious Parsons: The New School for Design, in New York City, and started his Associates in Applied Science in Fashion Studies in the fall of 2005. Rani graduated with an AAS in fashion studies in the spring of 2007.
During his tenure at Parsons, Rani had the chance to intern with some of the best designers in the industry, to name a few, Yigal azrouel, Carlos Miele, Zuhair Murad, and famous milliner Patricia Underwood.
Eventually, Rani decided to venture out with his eponymous label.
